BIRD IN THE NEST ( UCELLO NEL NIDO)
The title of this print is perhaps unstated because it seems to be more than a study of nature. Within this womb-like oval nest is the shape of an egg. But one also sees that the bird hangs suspended from legs bound up with bands. Since the artist was once a prisoner in World War II, could the bird ensnared be auto-biographical?
