Maestro Livio Valentini was a post-modern artist from the school of Rome who resided in Orvieto, Italy. His hands have shaped beautiful gold and silver jewelry, ceramics in all shapes and sizes, and executed the simplest and most complicated works in all media…oil, acrylic, pen and ink and watercolors.

He made his first trip to Aiken, SC in 1997 when he exhibited at the University of South Carolina Aiken as part of the official ceremonies establishing a partnership between this historic southern city and Orvieto. He returned in 1999 to produce his second major painting which hangs in the Etherredge Center of Performing Arts. In September 2000 he returned to Aiken as an artist in residence and created yet another major work of art. The maestro passed away in July of 2008 but his presence is still with us through his wonderful work.
