Because of its close working relationships with a number of Italian officials, Partners in Friendship is sometimes able to offer exclusive travel benefits to its members that non-members never see. For example, in 2005 PIF members were offered the opportunity to take advantage of special discounts and upgrades on a state-of-the-art Italian cruise ship, courtesy of Mediterranean Shipping Company’s Dr. Sergio Fedelini, a longtime friend of PIF and Italy’s Honorary Consul for South Carolina.
